The 3 Areas that Drive Women Crazy about a Man's
Organizing!
by Marcia Ramsland, author of
Simplify Your Life: Get Organized and Stay that Way!
Organizing and simplify "stuff" at home can sometimes just drive a woman
CRAZY! And one of those things that drives her crazy is the way men
organize their stuff. Since this can cause discord in any good
relationship, can you guess what women have the biggest complaints
about?
I found the answer after going into hundreds of client homes as a
Professional Organizer. Typically I would be working with the woman of
the house. We would sort, organize, simplify, and clean up her chosen
project only to have her mutter at some point, "You know what really
drives me nuts? It's the way "he" leaves out all his stuff!"
"What stuff?" I would ask. And then I'd hear about it!
Now my number one rule is that I never organize anyone except the
person who asks for it. No, I will never organize "his" stuff unless he
asks. But do you want to know what the biggest complaint areas are about
men? Here's a little "insider" information.
The 3 Areas Men Drive Women Crazy with Their Organizing Are ...
#1 HIS Mail Pile, Newspapers, and Paper Piles. Typically the mail
pile was the biggest bone of contention because it sits on the kitchen
counter until the weekend... or company comes over. Now not all men are
this way, but paper clutter left out by "skimming" through the day's
mail and leaving it where it was viewed creates an annoying "pile." It
needs to be tossed or filed, not piled.
#2 HIS Dresser Top. Yikes! The top of a man's dresser can look
like an archeological dig when emptying pockets of the day's car keys,
wallet, ticket stubs, coins, airplane boarding passes, meeting notes,
and even tools. Often its pretty messy to wake up to each day. He
usually missed my tip that the front 2/3 of every dresser having a clean
"line of sight" to create peace and order. Cleanout the top drawer, put
in little box dividers, and keep the stuff there.
#3 The Proverbial "Socks on the Floor." How many women finally
find the courage to say, "I'm not your maid, I'm your wife?" There is a
better solution than a confrontation. It's a simple rule: Everyone needs
to pick up after themselves when it comes to clothes and personal space!
Go to work on your own cleanup campaign.
TODAY'S QUICK TIP: Every household has a "Cleanie" and a more "Messie"
personalities living there. Solution? Rise to the level of the most
organized person, and minimize conflict by keeping your own stuff
organized.
My book Simplify
Your Life: Get Organized and Stay that Way! is complete
in itself to teach you how to do this in step-by-step systems. The
audio CD also contains 60 photos that actually let you “see and hear”
how all the wonderful tips in the book actually work. You will
find yourself saying, "I CAN do this."
